A detailed telling of the Wrights' technical improvements, tests, and eventual successful flights of the 1905 airplane. The "world's first practical airplane," it was the world's first passenger plane, carrying Charles Furnas on April 6, 1908. The author describes the Wright brothers' entrance into the world of business with the siging of their first contract with the U.S. Signal Corps.
